The matrix of wide open public and private lands in the Gunnison Valley give us peaceful campsites, important wildlife habitat, grazing land for local ranchers, and so much more. Join the Crested Butte Land Trust, the Gunnison Ranchland Conservation Legacy, and the National Young Farmers Coalition in celebrating the first annual Colorado Public Lands Day this May 20th.
We invite you on an agricultural tour across the Gunnison Valley. The 3-hour tour will connect the dots between public lands, agriculture, and our protected scenic vistas. We’ll view historic ranchlands in the northern part of the valley and discuss the important system of public and private lands that bolster our ranching economy and heritage.
Then we’ll head south to tour the Allen’s multi-generational working family ranch, and the Calder Farm, part of the City of Gunnison’s Open Space.
Our tour will finish at High Alpine Brewing Company in downtown Gunnison, where we’ll enjoy a free beer with our State Senator Kerry Donovan, as well as our Gunnison County Commissioners, and many other local groups and coalitions.
