  • This event has passed.
When: Friday August 24th  3-5pm
Carpool Leaving the Town of Crested Butte 4-way/ Visitor Center Parking Lot at 12:45 pm Friday August 10, and  2:45 pm Friday August 24

As a component of the public scoping process for the Long Lake Land Exchange, the Crested Butte Land Trust is hosting two community site visits to discuss the future management of the Long Lake parcel, a 120 acre public property on the eastern half of the lake. The site visit will consist of a tour of the property from Land Trust staff and United States Forest Service Staff with time for questions about the land exchange.

Together with our partners, the Crested Butte Land Trust has assembled a land exchange with the Gunnison National Forest. To own and ensure community access to the east side of Long Lake from Washington Gulch, the Land Trust will exchange 613 acres on Fossil Ridge near Lost Canyon, currently owned by the Trust for Public Land (TPL), and the recently protected 15 acres at Copley Lake near Irwin.  These properties, both surrounded by Forest Service land, will be added to the Gunnison National Forest in exchange for Crested Butte Land Trust ownership over the 120 acres on the eastern shore of Long Lake. For more specific information on the land exchange visit  http://www.cblandtrust.org/long-lake, read the Crested Butte News Article announcing the exchange, or contact the Crested Butte Land Trust Office (970) 349-1206.
