With more and more people visiting Gunnison County, our protected lands are experiencing more use than ever. While we are thrilled to see so many people, young and old, hiking, biking, fly fishing, horseback riding, and birding on our properties, it’s important to know that we do not allow any fires or camping on any of our lands. That’s because our preserved lands are also home to elk, blue heron, and black bears. We have to ensure that our human use is as compatible as possible with the well-being of our fuzzy friends, and the biggest threat to wildlife is the destruction of habitat. Help us maintain the natural vegetation of our lands by dismantling unauthorized campsites.
