What does the Land Trust provide you?
For Marcella Wildes, that’s a simply question.
When she first arrived in Crested Butte, Marcella was overwhelmed by all of the different hiking trails. Growing up in Texas, she had never had the opportunity to explore the mountains. Coming to Crested Butte changed Marcella down to her core. “When I hike in Crested Butte, beauty blends into my soul,” she said.
Something for everyone
As a novice hiker, Marcella started exploring the easier trails in the area. Over time, and by pushing herself a bit more on each excursion, Marcella found an incredible sense of fulfillment and achievement on the trails you protect through the Land Trust.
“As much as we all love these valleys, they do need protection,” Marcella said. “The Land Trust does an excellent job acquiring and protecting properties for all to use and enjoy!”
The best hiking companion
Of course, Marcella has the most exuberant hiking companion in the world – her golden retriever, Bear. Bear has been all over the trails of the Gunnison Valley, bringing smiles and slobbers to all. According to Marcella, “hiking with Bear through the wildflowers is like happiness romping through a magnificent garden.”
