Happy New Year!

How will you interact with conserved lands in 2024?

Will you cross-country ski on Crested Butte Nordic’s world-class trail system? Use the Rec Path, hike on Snodgrass, ride the Lupine Trails, or go for a run on the Lower Loop? Will you fish, paddle, or cool down in Long Lake? Maybe you’ll simply enjoy the views of the Slate River wetlands and Paradise Divide.

No matter the season, you can take pride in your commitment to conservation, a tangible legacy for your community through clean air and water, protected wildlife habitats, scenic views, and access to your favorite local trails. Though winter is in full swing right now, and whether you’re praying for snow (like we are!) or already dreaming of warm summer days, we all benefit year-round from conserved lands. It’s not just the trails and precious flora and fauna, it’s the memories we make in these special places, the opportunities to explore, inspire, and foster connections to our natural world that make open spaces so important and shape our quality of life.

Our 2024 resolution is to continue leading Gunnison’s Valley conservation efforts with help from our amazing community. This year, and forever, the Crested Butte Land Trust is proud to work with you in caring for the land you love.

Winter Field Trips

We had a blast with the Crested Butte Avalanche Center this week learning about the great work that they do keeping us safe in the backcountry. We hope you can join us for our next free winter field trips. Email jessica@cblandtrust.org to sign up today.

Wednesday, February 7 @ 5 PM with Redline Gallery Artists
Stay warm and have a drink with us at Mary Schmidt’s Redline Gallery. Hear from artists about their work inspired by local landscapes and wildlife. We’ll also share some updates about the work of the Land Trust. 10% of art purchased at the event will be donated to the Land Trust!

Friday, March 22 @ 10 AM with Crested Butte Nordic
Join the Crested Butte Land Trust and Crested Butte Nordic for a ski and brunch at the yurt. Hear updates from both organizations and learn about the partnership between Nordic skiers and land conservation. Enjoy a free day pass and ski the trails afterward!

2024 Calendars

Have you bought your 2024 calendar yet? Shop online here or swing by our office at 308 3rd Street, Mountain Earth, Townie Books, Pfisters, or the Chamber of Commerce to get yours.

Photography helps support our mission in conservation and stewardship and we couldn’t tell our story without the generous support of local photographers who capture the unique beauty of the Gunnison Valley. Although 2024 just started… the deadline for submissions for the 2025 calendar is March 1. Email jessica@cblandtrust.org to submit!
