Recreate Responsibly This Spring

Voluntary No Float

The Slate River wetlands are home to both year-round and migratory wildlife. In an effort to protect our local Great Blue Heron rookery during critical nesting times, a voluntary no-float period from now until July 15 on the Upper Slate is in place. This section covers the Slate River from Gunsight Bridge to the Slate River Boat Launch on Pyramid Avenue in town.

Trail Conditions

As warmer days approach and we eagerly await getting out on local trails, please be mindful of seasonal trail conditions throughout the Gunnison Valley. Please visit Crested Butte Mountain Bike Association’s trail report before getting out for a hike or a ride in the upper end of the valley and Gunnison Trails for info around Gunnison. Your favorite trail might still be covered in snow for now, but melt out is happening fast. We look forward to getting on trail responsibly with you soon!

Be a Part of the Land Trust’s New Video!
